A useful fit for

A lighter choice for one-pizza outdoor meals and occasional moves.

The main tradeoff

The hub and motorized stone are optional; powered rotation reduces pizza size to 12 inches.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I cook a 14-inch propane pizza with a standard setup weighing under 40 pounds?

Yes. The supplied stationary stone supports 14-inch pizza and the published oven weight is 35.27 lb. Confirm the worktop and outdoor clearances separately.

Can I add powered rotation and keep the full 14-inch pizza size?

No. The Koda 2 Rotating Stone is optional and its stated pizza limit is 12 inches. The 14-inch claim belongs to the stationary stone.

Can I monitor temperatures on a phone without buying a functional accessory?

No. A compatible Ooni Connect hub is a separate purchase for this oven. Pro andMax supply a hub.

The Ooni Koda 2 suits a household that wants to make one medium pizza at a time, move the oven when it has cooled, and use propane rather than maintain a wood fire. Its standard stone accepts pizzas up to 14 inches. That gives a growing dough round more room than a 12-inch oven without moving straight to the much heavier Koda 2 Pro.

The important choice is the cooking setup. The supplied stationary stone, an optional temperature hub and the optional Rotating Stone do different jobs. Adding the motorized stone reduces the stated pizza diameter to 12 inches. Choose the ordinary stone for larger pizzas and the rotating accessory for less manual turning; those benefits do not come together at the same maximum size.

A manageable oven still needs a proper outdoor station

The published unboxed weight is 35.27 pounds, or 16 kilograms. Folding legs help with storage, but this is a substantial appliance to lift, especially when a propane cylinder and preparation tools also need carrying. Remove the stone before lifting, support the underside, and move the oven only after it has cooled. A carry cover is a separate purchase.

Check the support surface carefully. Ooni's North American instructions call for a sturdy metal or wood surface that can carry the oven, and rule out plastic and glass tables. The label requires 40 inches of clearance from combustible construction at the back, sides and front and prohibits overhead construction. An open garage door does not turn a garage into an approved cooking location. Plan room for launching a peel and safely approaching the gas controls as well as the oven itself.

There is a depth discrepancy between the current product page and its linked dimensional drawing. The drawing shows approximately 21.4 inches across the oven including the control projection, while its side view extends to approximately 19.2 inches. The product page also publishes a longer imperial dimension. Obtain confirmation of the current footprint before buying a tight shelf or fitted worktop.

Propane heat, with manual decisions during the bake

This US Koda 2 is the propane model. The native catalogue lists Foundry Black UU-P2D100, Slate Blue UU-P33500 and Highland Green UU-P3AF00. A hose and regulator are supplied; the cylinder is not part of the listed box contents. This oven is not an interchangeable natural-gas and propane appliance. Buyers with a household gas line should look at the exact natural-gas versions of the Koda 2 Pro or Koda 2 Max.

The side dial changes the flame. It does not provide the set-and-maintain temperature control of a thermostatic indoor oven. The tapered gas burner and 15-millimeter cordierite stone are intended to spread and retain heat, but dough thickness, toppings, weather and your turning technique still matter. The north-American propane label gives a 15,000 BTU/hour input; that is a fuel-input specification, not a prediction of how quickly your next pizza will finish.

Allow a first-use preparation session: the manual calls for 30 minutes at top temperature, followed by complete cooling and a dry interior wipe. During ordinary cooking, heat the stone as well as the air. A quick flame start does not mean that a cold stone is ready to brown a base.

The temperature hub and rotating accessory are separate upgrades

The standard package does not include the Ooni Connect Digital Temperature Hub. Buying that compatible accessory adds a local temperature display and Bluetooth monitoring through the Ooni app. An air-temperature reading still does not measure the stone surface; Ooni recommends an infrared thermometer for that. The app is a way to follow temperatures and alerts, not a remote control for the gas flame.

The optional Koda 2 Rotating Stone supplies a motor, replacement stone arrangement and four-AA battery pack. It can run continuously or turn in timed quarter-turns, and a wave sensor starts or stops rotation. Ooni states approximately seven hours of continuous turning per battery set. Treat that as a maker estimate rather than a reason to omit spare batteries from a long session.

With this accessory, the maximum stated pizza is 12 inches, and Ooni explicitly says the Koda 2 rotating configuration is incompatible with its cookware range. It is a poor choice if your main aim is a large cast-iron dinner. For a 14-inch pizza, keep the standard stone and turn the pizza yourself. For powered rotation and a 16-inch pizza, consider the Pro with its corresponding rotating kit.

Cleaning means dry stone care and a cooled oven

The cordierite stone is not a washable tray. The manual prohibits water, soap and chemical cleaners on it. Its prescribed cleaning method is a high-heat burn followed by complete cooling and brushing away ash; that is a separate operation from wiping the cool exterior. Staining alone does not mean the stone needs scrubbing back to its original color.

Use approved cookware for meat, vegetables and wet dishes rather than placing them directly on the stone. Disconnect and store the cylinder outdoors when bringing the cooled oven inside. Remove batteries during extended storage. The Koda 2 is a useful fit for propane-fired, one-pizza cooking with occasional relocation. Choose the Pro for larger pies or an included temperature hub, and the Max when two 12-inch pizzas at once are central to the meal.
