A useful fit for

Choose an 18-inch stationary pizza and monitor ambient or food temperature locally or nearby on a phone.

The main tradeoff

At 66 lb it needs a substantial station; the optional rotating setup supports 16-inch pizza.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I make an 18-inch pizza and use phone temperature monitoring with the supplied equipment?

Yes. The stationary-stone setup supports 18-inch pizza and includes the Bluetooth temperature hub. Flame adjustment remains manual.

Is there a factory natural-gas version for an 18-inch pizza?

Yes. The exactUS catalogue lists UU-P 2 DA 00. Use its matching connection equipment and instructions; the propane manual does not authorize the gas-line installation.

Can I combine powered rotation with an 18-inch pizza?

No. The optional Pro rotating setup is rated for 16-inch pizza. Keep the standard stone for 18-inch pizza or consider the Max rotating setup.

The Ooni Koda 2 Pro is the middle choice for a cook who wants larger pizzas and temperature information at the oven without moving to a two-pizza cooking floor. The standard stone arrangement supports a stated 18-inch pizza, and the supplied Ooni Connect Digital Temperature Hub displays ambient temperature and accepts a food probe. Those are useful advantages over the smaller Koda 2 when pizza night also includes a pan of food.

Its tradeoff is handling. At a published 66 pounds, or 30 kilograms, it belongs on a carefully planned outdoor work station more readily than in a routine of carrying an oven out for every dinner. It also remains a manually controlled gas oven: temperature monitoring does not adjust its flame for you.

Choose the exact gas version before choosing the color

The current US catalogue separates propane and natural-gas versions. Propane Foundry Black is UU-P2D900, Slate Blue is UU-P33A00 and Highland Green is UU-P3B000. The observed natural-gas Foundry Black configuration is UU-P2DA00. That last product is intended for a gas line; a finish option does not make a propane unit suitable for that connection.

The linked North American propane manual identifies the propane models and their supplied regulator and hose. Its cylinder instructions and 33,000 BTU/hour rating should not be treated as natural-gas installation instructions. For the factory natural-gas unit, verify the matching rating plate, connection equipment and exact supplied instructions before arranging the installation. Do not choose it on the assumption that a tank adapter will solve a supply mismatch.

A tank model is easier to relocate between suitable outdoor stations, whereas a fixed line makes the oven's position a longer-term decision. Either way, allow space around the hose, the side control and the front opening rather than fitting the body tightly between cabinets.

An 18-inch cooking plan, not two independent oven zones

The Pro's standard floor uses two 20-millimeter cordierite stones. Ooni describes the cooking area as wider at the front than the back, so an 18-inch round pizza is a more useful capacity reference than treating the entire floor as a rectangular baking sheet. Measure a pan including its handles and consider the opening and glass visor before assuming it will fit.

The product page contains conflicting pizza-size wording: one FAQ says 14 inches, while the main size, cooking-surface table and comparison with Koda 16 state 18 inches. The larger figure is supported repeatedly by the model-specific specifications, but it still assumes the standard stone setup. An optional rotating kit changes that limit.

The single adjustable gas dial controls the burner. If you want independently controlled left and right cooking zones, the Koda 2 Max provides that specific difference. A broad floor or multiple stone pieces does not by itself create independently adjustable heat zones. On the Pro, manage the flame and pizza position during the bake, and use suitable cookware for wet dishes, vegetables or meat.

The included hub measures air and food, not the stone

The propane manual lists one supplied food probe, the hub, its mounting bracket, an ambient cable and batteries. A second probe input exists, but the second food probe is optional. That distinction matters if the appeal is monitoring two different pieces of food without another purchase.

The hub works as a local display and pairs with a phone over Bluetooth. It can show temperatures and provide the connected monitoring functions described by Ooni, but it is not a Wi-Fi burner controller. You still turn the gas dial and supervise the oven. Air heats faster than stone, so the displayed ambient temperature is not permission to launch immediately. An infrared stone reading answers a different question: whether the surface is ready to cook the base.

The supplied food probe also has limits. The manual rates it for use up to 480°F, or 250°C, and prohibits exposing it to higher temperatures or open flames. A 950°F oven headline does not give the food probe the same temperature tolerance. Keep its use within the exact instructions, particularly when moving between pizza and slower pan cooking.

Powered rotation trades some pizza width for convenience

The optional Pro Rotating Stone is a replacement cooking arrangement with motor, support rings, side stones and a four-AA battery pack. Ooni lists continuous rotation and timed quarter-turn modes. The supported pizza diameter becomes 16 inches, compared with 18 inches on the ordinary stone. Its accessory weight is published separately; it is not a reliable assembled-oven weight because the kit replaces existing parts.

There are cookware exclusions too: Ooni rules out its Dual Sided Grizzler Plate, 13-by-10-inch Detroit Pan and medium or large Roasting Pan in the Pro rotating setup. Choose the standard floor if those dishes or an 18-inch pizza are priorities. Choose the rotating arrangement if a 16-inch pizza meets the meal and reducing manual turning is worth the extra equipment.

Plan the station and the cleanup together

The propane label requires 40 inches from combustible construction at the front, back and sides, with no overhead construction. Its installation instructions exclude enclosed buildings and garages. The published body dimensions are 26.85 by 25.67 by 15.47 inches; confirm the orientation and your exact installation clearances rather than using those three figures as a fitted-cabinet plan.

Before first cooking, the manual requires a 30-minute high-heat seasoning session followed by cooling. Clean the stationary stones through the prescribed burn-and-brush method, keep water and detergent away from them, and wipe the cool exterior separately. The visor is removable for instructed cleaning, and the probe is hand-washed without submerging its wiring. The Pro fits large single-pizza meals and monitored pan cooking. The Koda 2 is easier to move; the Max earns its greater bulk when simultaneous pizzas or independent zones are genuinely needed.
