Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can this configuration fit an outdoor propane meal with powered rotation and a pizza up to 16 inches?
Yes. The cover configuration names the HZ-1004-ANA Versa 16 and HZ-5004 cover; the oven remains the same outdoor rotating LP appliance.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I see heat at the oven without requiring a phone temperature feed?
Yes. The same HZ-1004-ANA manual parts list has a local heat indicator; the fitted cover adds no phone monitoring.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I use natural gas if I accept purchasing the separately listed converter?
The oven page lists separately sold kit HZ-3001-A. The with-cover contents do not include it, and the reviewed LP manual does not provide converter clearance or instructions.
Explore this need in the finder →The HALO Versa 16 Outdoor Pizza Oven With Cover is the storage-protection version of the same rotating 16-inch oven. Its product page identifies the cover as reinforced and weather-resistant, with a gas-canister pocket, and says it folds flat. That is a practical add-on for an outdoor appliance that will be stored between cooks. It does not change the burner, rotation drive, capacity or clearances, and it is not permission to cook in rain or to cover a hot oven.
Same cooking core, one storage accessory
The oven in this package is the Versa 16, model HZ-1004-ANA. HALO lists the rotating 16-inch cordierite stone and a dual-burner arrangement: a rear flame burner and a lower infrared burner. On propane the combined input is 21,100 BTU per hour. The cover is a fitted accessory, model HZ-5004; there is no separate outdoor cart or the Essential bundle’s full serving kit in the package contents. If peels and cleanup tools are your missing pieces, compare the Essential Pizza Bundle. If you only need the oven, the standalone model is the cleaner comparison.
HALO publishes maximum heat figures of up to 950°F for ambient temperature and 750°F at the stone, along with a roughly 12-minute warm-up and about five minutes per pie. These are manufacturer claims, not independently measured cooking times or a settable thermostat range. The on-oven heat indicator is analog; it does not confirm the stone’s exact surface temperature. Its gas valve adjusts the burners but does not create a precise programmable setting. People choosing on the basis of a specific controllable temperature should not treat these top-line numbers as an adequate substitute.
Rotation and fuel are different systems
The included stone motor runs from an AC adapter or two D-cell batteries, which are not included. The igniter uses a separate AA cell. That motor turns the cooking surface; it does not heat it. The cooking appliance remains an outdoor propane oven, supplied for LP cylinder use in the exact manual. HALO also lists a natural-gas conversion kit HZ-3001-A separately. A natural-gas connection therefore needs the correct additional kit and conversion instructions, not just a different hose. Do not infer indoor permission from the presence of an electrical adapter.
The manual says to keep the turntable on while the stone and oven preheat; running the flame with the turntable off can crack or break the stone. Pause rotation while launching or retrieving a pie. The 16-inch stone can hold one large pizza, but its size does not establish simultaneous cooking of two smaller pizzas. The oven still requires someone to handle the peel and judge the bake.
Cover after cooling, and measure the safety envelope
The oven body measures 22.44 inches wide, 24.59 inches deep and 14.84 inches high, and the oven alone is listed at 43.54 pounds. A cover adds storage protection, not a stand; it does not add another table or compensate for limited work space. The manual gives an outdoor-only warning and requires 10 feet from a structure, combustible material or another gas cylinder, and 25 feet from flammable liquid. Those distances are more important than the oven’s footprint if the intended spot is a crowded deck or narrow balcony. Measure the real cooking station and check local rules before connecting propane.
Wait for the oven and stone to cool before covering or cleaning. The cover can help keep a stored oven protected, but no cover makes a hot burner safe to enclose. The cordierite stone is fragile and retains heat; HALO says not to place it in a dishwasher or clean it with soap, and the owner’s guide cautions against abrupt temperature changes. Empty the clean-out tray and follow the manual rather than storing ash, moisture or food debris under the cover.
Who gets value from this version?
Choose this package when you want the rotating gas oven and know you need a fitted cover for its off-season or between-cook storage. It is less useful if the oven will live in a dry sheltered place, you already own a protective cover, or your real need is the serving tools and cart rather than a storage cover. For indoor cooking, no-fuel-cylinder operation or a proven temperature preset, shortlist a different type of oven. Within the Versa family, the cover bundle is about storing the same oven more thoughtfully, not expanding what it can cook.

Key details at a glance
| Fuel versions | The matched owner manual identifies standard LP propane with model-specific 1 lb and 20 lb regulator/hose assemblies; the product page lists 1 lb and 20 lb tanks. Natural-gas conversion kit HZ-3001-A is separately sold; its exact conversion setup/clearance instructions are not in the LP manual. |
|---|---|
| Maximum pizza on standard stationary floor | 16 in |
| Maximum pizza with matching optional rotating kit | 16 in |
| 12-inch pizzas at once on standard floor | 1 |
| Published standard-oven weight | 43.54 lb |
| Temperature hub supplied with oven | No |
| Food probes supplied with oven | 0 |
| Motorized stone supplied in base package | Yes |
| Manufacturer maximum temperature | 950 °F |
| Monitoring and controls | The exact parts list calls out local heat indicator HZ-1004-04 (an analog thermometer); no supplied food probe, phone temperature feed or remote flame control is documented. |
| Optional rotating setup | Motorized turntable rotates the 16-inch stone. It runs on two D-cell batteries (not included) or the supplied AC adapter; the separate igniter needs an AA cell. The adapter powers rotation, not oven heat. The manual says the turntable must remain on during preheat and should be stopped for launching/retrieving. |
| Space and measurement note | Oven-only dimensions 22.44 W × 24.59 D × 14.84 H inches and 43.54 lb. Bundle contents are separate: the Ultimate cart dimensions/combined weight are not reported. The dimensions are not installation clearances. |
| Stone care | The exact manual warns the cordierite stone is fragile and remains hot; cool fully before cleaning, avoid sudden thermal change, soap and dishwasher use, and clear the clean-out tray. Manual says outdoor use only and requires the stated gas safety clearances. |
| Cooking modes and limits | One gas control/adjustable LP regulator, no named pizza presets or exact controlled-temperature range published. HALO claims 950°F ambient/750°F stone, but these are not selectable setpoints. |
| Boost routine | No electrical heat Boost mode is documented; the rotation motor is a separate accessory drive. |
