A useful fit for

A compact electric format for someone who wants a 12-inch pizza and indoor/outdoor flexibility without tending a live flame.

The main tradeoff

Needs a suitable 15A GFCI circuit, four inches of placement space and a dry, weather-protected outdoor location; no remote start, probe, powered turn or larger-pizza capacity is confirmed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the P+ match an outdoor 12-inch New York pizza routine on electric power?

Yes, that is within the maker-stated use and size: the P+ is an indoor/outdoor 120V electric oven for pizza up to 12 inches, and New York is a named mode. Follow its four-inch placement and 15A GFCI rules.

Must Detroit mode be selectable at the oven without using the app?

P+ lists Detroit among its eight built-in modes, so it fits the on-device requirement. This differs from Model P, where Detroit is an app mode.

Can you start the P+ cook from the phone without touching the oven?

No. Current’s support FAQ says the app does not remotely start the oven; someone has to begin the cook at its control. Phone monitoring is not the same capability.

Current’s Model P+ is a compact electric pizza oven for people who want a single 12-inch pie without choosing between kitchen and patio use. The 120-volt, 1,750-watt unit has no flame, a 13-by-13-inch cordierite stone, a viewing window and an added interior light. It is also a different product from the earlier Model P: the P+ lists eight built-in cooking modes, whereas the P’s older page lists five built-in modes and makes three additional modes available through the app.

What changes with P+

The current P+ page names five pizza modes—Neapolitan, New York, Detroit, Thin Crust and Frozen—plus Bake, Sear and Broil, for eight built-in modes. It also calls out the added interior light. The 13-inch-square stone does not mean a 13-inch pie fits: the published pizza capacity is 12 inches. Listed dimensions are 17.5 inches wide, 21.2 deep and 14.21 high, with a 42-inch cord and 31-pound product weight. That weight is not broken down into oven, stone and rack, so it is not a verified assembled lifting figure.

Some bundle copy still calls the P+ a five-mode oven, apparently carrying forward older wording. The standalone P+ listing and manual describe eight modes; the bundles identify the same P+ chamber, not a separate cooking model.

Plan the outlet and countertop first

Although it can be used indoors or outdoors, this is still a powerful countertop appliance: the P+ manual calls for a 15-amp breaker and 15-amp GFCI outlet, with no other appliances running on that circuit. The oven’s 1,750-watt draw makes a shared kitchen or patio circuit a poor assumption. Current recommends not using an extension cord for best performance. Ask an electrician to check a circuit that trips; do not solve repeated trips by bypassing GFCI protection.

Current’s manual says to keep the oven four inches from walls and objects on the countertop, and not to put objects on top of it or against its sides while it is operating. The numeric side clearance is known; a separate overhead distance is not stated. Outdoor use does not mean weatherproof use: keep it out of rain, keep the controller dry and store the oven indoors when it is not in use. It is a better fit for a dry, accessible outlet and a stable surface than for an exposed garden corner.

Useful modes, with a phone-control boundary

The controls choose a mode and adjust temperature or time. The app can monitor a running cook and send alerts, but this is not remote-start cooking: someone must press the oven’s control to begin. Phone monitoring does not add independent cooking zones, a motorized turntable or a food probe. The stone is stationary, so turn the pie by hand when needed.

The product is rated up to 850°F, but the reviewed P+ material does not give a full selectable range for every mode. Check the latest manual before treating that overall maximum as a setting available in a particular preset. Bake, Sear and Broil add uses, but this remains one small chamber.

Cleaning and package choices

The included cordierite stone needs a dry-care routine: Current says not to soap, soak or put it in a dishwasher. Let it cool, remove dry residue with the recommended brush or scraper, and keep water away from the stone’s pores. The product listing includes a stainless-steel rack and stone; it does not make a pizza peel, cutter or cart part of the basic oven package.

Current’s P+ Essentials bundle adds a perforated peel and cutter. Its Select/Pinnacle bundle adds a cart, fitted oven and cart covers, a cleaning brush, serving tools, silicone pads and heat gloves. Other listed bundles pair the P+ with a separate electric griddle or grill. These packages can change how much equipment arrives and how much patio space the overall station needs, but the additional cart, griddle or grill does not enlarge the P+ chamber or its 12-inch pizza capacity. Check the exact bundle page and color selection if those accessories matter.

Who should choose it?

Consider P+ if you want a plug-in electric oven that is explicitly intended for indoor and outdoor use, value a lighted viewing window and prefer named pizza presets over managing a live fire. Its no-flame operation avoids gas bottles, wood tending and ash, while the dedicated circuit and four-inch placement rule are real setup requirements. A shopper who wants a larger pizza, a probe, two pizzas at once or powered rotation should compare other exact models instead of stretching this one’s published capacity.

The earlier Model P is the closest comparison: it shares the compact 12-inch electric format and indoor/outdoor claim, but lacks the P+ interior light and puts Detroit, Bake and Sear among modes available through the app. Ooni Volt 2 is another electric alternative with a 12-inch pizza size, but Ooni describes that model as indoor-only and gives it a proofing mode. Those are different choices, not a ranking: pick the P+ when flexible location and the lighted window are useful; choose based on your actual preset, space and support needs. Read the Model P assessment and compare the Volt 2 assessment.
