Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the exact WKPM-D100 suit an outdoor wood-fired plan with the full 12-foot combustible clearance?
Yes, the exact WPPO listing identifies this as a wood-fired standalone oven configuration and gives its support arrangement. The shared Lava Series manual says outdoor only and requires at least 12 feet from combustibles. It does not name this SKU; exact pie capacity and oven weight remain unverified.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the Lava 40 label prove a 12-inch pizza fits?
No. The exact product page gives outside dimensions but does not publish interior floor dimensions or maximum pizza diameter. Model name and exterior width cannot satisfy an essential 12-inch size requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the digital control select and hold a 650°F cooking setpoint on WKPM-D100?
That is not documented. The Lava Series manual gives gradual deck guidance around 500–650°F and a 900°F maximum measured-temperature setting, not a selectable thermostat setpoint. The manual is family-level, not SKU-exact.
Explore this need in the finder →The WPPO Lava 40 Digital Controlled Wood-Fired Oven is a large, stand-supported outdoor oven, not a 40-inch pizza oven by specification. Its exact U.S. row identifies SKU WKPM-D100. WPPO’s current page lists a black stand and outside dimensions of 42 inches wide by 42 inches long by 58 inches high. That footprint is the first practical filter: plan a permanent outdoor location and a way to receive and position a substantial appliance, rather than treating “40” as the size of the pie it will hold.
What the exact product page establishes
The Lava 40 listing describes a volcanic-stone cooking surface and lists refractory cement, 304 stainless steel, a thick steel inner shell, mosaic tile, lava-rock aggregate insulation and a thick fire blanket in the construction. It also names a convection fan. The page does not publish the oven’s weight, interior cooking-floor dimensions, door opening, maximum pizza diameter or exact simultaneous pizza capacity. The 42-inch exterior width is therefore not a usable-floor measurement, and the “40” model label cannot stand in for a pie-size guarantee.
The manufacturer image used in the card comes from image position one on the exact WPPO product row. The row has a single listed U.S. SKU, WKPM-D100, while the image object itself has no variant IDs. It is a product-row-level image, not a SKU-linked variant image. WPPO does not say whether it is photography or a rendering. The image shows the stand arrangement, but package contents should still be confirmed against the exact order code rather than inferred from a picture.
A digital readout is not automatic heat control
The Lava Series manual is useful for understanding how the fan and controller work, but it does not name WKPM-D100. Treat it as family-level guidance supported by the current Lava 40 product page, not as proof of every included accessory. The manual describes a controller for air and slate temperature readings, a barbecue-probe display mode and a 900°F maximum measured-temperature setting. It recommends heating the oven deck gradually to around 500–650°F. It does not document a selectable thermostat that holds a chosen deck temperature. Do not read “Digital Controlled” as a preset-based electric oven or treat 900°F as a selectable cooking target.
For fan operation, the manual specifies a DC 5V mobile power source. Its spare four-cell battery box can run the temperature display only; it cannot power the fan. The manual recommends a mobile supply but the Lava 40 product page does not state that one comes in the box. If fan-assisted use is important, check the exact power-source inclusion, connection and suitability before ordering. The manual also discusses a separate barbecue temperature probe without establishing that WKPM-D100 includes it.
Fuel, turning and upkeep
For cooking, the manual describes a fire-managed wood routine using dry solid medium- or hardwood in short split pieces, about 12–16 inches long and 2–5 inches in diameter. Damp wood slows heating and makes smoke; pressure-treated, pine or other sappy wood, laminated material, chips, driftwood, coal and plywood are rejected. Build the fire progressively, keep the oven mouth from being fully sealed while it is burning, and plan to turn pizzas by hand. The fan assists combustion, but the documentation does not describe a powered rotating stone or unattended cooking.
Safety is a decisive siting constraint. WPPO says the Lava Series is for outdoor use only and requires at least 12 feet from combustible materials in all directions, including overhead walls, ceilings, awnings and canopies, as well as foliage and building materials. Measure the actual installation area before purchase. The listed stand does not remove that clearance requirement, and the page does not publish a total operating weight for your supporting surface or access route.
Care includes keeping water out of the hot chamber and chimney, never wet-mopping or icing the stone, brushing the floor appropriately and checking the flue for creosote. The manual recommends at least an annual chimney sweep. This is an outdoor wood oven with a maintenance routine, not a self-cleaning push-button appliance.
When the Lava 40 makes sense
Shortlist WKPM-D100 if the 42-by-42-inch footprint and included stand fit your outdoor space, you want a dedicated wood-fired workflow, and you are comfortable tending a live fire, powering the fan with a verified 5V source if needed, and turning pies manually. Do not buy it to meet a stated 40-inch pizza or three-pie capacity: neither is established. If your installation is tighter, compare the Lava 28’s adjustable-leg format; if it can be larger, compare the Lava 48’s still broader 48-by-48-inch footprint. For every option, ask for exact cooking-floor measurements, weight and package contents before committing.
