Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I cook a 16-inch pizza outside on the natural-gas version and keep two food probes and local air/stone readings?
Yes, provided this is the factory natural-gas configuration and the gas line is installed and leak-tested by a licensed gas fitter.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the regular Dome satisfy a required 18-inch pizza?
No. Gozney lists the regular Dome for up to 16 inches; the XL is the relevant size in this family.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I install this gas/solid-fuel hybrid in an enclosed kitchen or garage?
No. The exact product page and manual specify outdoor-only use, and an open door or ventilation fan does not change that.
Explore this need in the finder →Gozney’s Dome (Gen 2) is a substantial outdoor oven for cooks who want more than one 16-inch pizza at a time: the maker lists room for one 16-inch pizza or two 10-inch pizzas, and describes wood, charcoal and gas as fuel options. The current U.S. product record identifies Off Black and Bone finishes with separate propane and natural-gas variants. Do not treat a finish photo or “hybrid” label as proof that every gas type is interchangeable; choose the exact factory fuel version for the site you have.
Two sizes, not a portable Dome
The Dome Gen 2’s published exterior dimensions are 32.5 by 25.7 by 38.8 inches; the internal chamber is 23.8 by 19.6 by 8.9 inches, with a 16.5-by-5.2-inch mouth. The oven itself weighs 136.7 pounds before its supporting surface or fuel supply. It arrives assembled, but Gozney recommends having four people available to unbox and move it. That is a very different handling proposition from a compact tabletop oven. The included lifting straps and recesses are for moving it safely while cold; the manual cautions against lifting by the mouth or dock and says to let the oven cool for at least three hours before moving it.
The 30 mm removable cordierite floor is listed for one 16-inch pizza or two 10-inch pies. That second arrangement is useful for serving two smaller pizzas together, but it does not make this a multi-zone appliance: both pizzas share one chamber, fire and stone. The manual-turn plan has no motorized floor. Gozney lists a 950°F maximum, which is a manufacturer specification rather than an independent temperature measurement or a promise that every stone location and recipe reaches a particular result.
Fuel choice changes installation and routine
The native U.S. listing has gas variants, while the product page and manual describe the broader hybrid oven as usable with propane, natural gas, wood or charcoal. For propane, the US/CA manual lists model type GOZ-2676, 11 inches water column and 31,390 BTU per hour. The separately configured natural-gas version is listed at 7 inches water column and 31,730 BTU per hour. That natural-gas installation must be completed by a licensed gas fitter, including the manual’s leak checks. These are not conversion instructions: do not convert a propane unit or burn gas and solid fuel together. Wood or charcoal is a separate fire, not an add-on flame under the gas burner. Pellets are not a documented fuel here.
The base package brings a digital console for air and stone temperatures and two meat probes, plus a battery, burner guard, duct grate, stone adjustment tool, gas hose/regulator on the propane version, flue pieces and tools. A local reading can help you see the oven’s own air and floor readings; it is not a phone monitor, remote flame control or a substitute for a separate infrared reading at a chosen spot. The probes measure food, not the stone. The optional Wood-Fire Control Kit adds airflow control and a rack for wood or charcoal; it is not needed to claim that the base oven supports a separate solid-fuel fire, but it is an extra if gas-like control over that fire is important. The manual requires the duct grate for wood or charcoal and prohibits lighting fluid, treated or painted wood, and using the control module without its rack.
Make the station work before choosing a finish
This oven is for outdoor use only, not a kitchen, garage, balcony or enclosed porch. The US/CA manual’s placement diagram calls for 30 cm (about 11.8 inches) to the rear and sides and 1 m (about 39.4 inches) at the front from combustible construction; it separately calls for about two inches of open space around the dock base for air. Those are directional clearances, not a blanket 39.4-inch gap on every side. Keep the oven level and stable, protect it from rain and wind, supervise it while operating, and follow the exact manual and local rules. Its 32.5-inch width, tall flue, very high mass and need for a sturdy surface matter more in a small yard than any single temperature figure.
Who should choose it?
Choose Dome Gen 2 if you will use the 16-inch single-pizza or two-10-inch layout, value the air/stone display and twin food probes, and want the option to switch among separately operated fuels. Choose the smaller Dome rather than its XL sibling if the XL’s 18-inch floor or three-10-inch layout is unnecessary; the XL is 161 pounds and needs a larger footprint. A propane-only cook who wants one 16-inch pie in a considerably lighter oven should also compare the Gozney Arc XL, at a listed 58.5 pounds, but that is a different operating plan without Dome’s hybrid fuels and two food probes. Neither alternative makes an unsuitable indoor location safe.
For matching, select outdoor location, the exact fuel, your required pizza diameter and any probe/display needs. The Dome should drop out for indoor use, a required 18-inch pie, pellets, phone monitoring, remote flame adjustment or a load limit below the documented oven weight. The extra wood-control kit is separate, and the recommended support is not included. Confirm the offer’s exact finish and fuel variant, then use the current official manual for connection, spacing, lighting and ash handling. This assessment is based on U.S. product records and manuals, not personal ownership, independent cooking trials, a price quote or a promise of availability.

Key details at a glance
| Fuel versions | The current native U.S. product lists exact propane and natural-gas fuel variants across Off Black/Bone finishes. Propane: model type GOZ-2676, 11 in. W.C., 31,390 BTU/h. NG: same type, 7 in. W.C., 31,730 BTU/h and licensed gas fitter required. Product/manual also support separate wood or charcoal fires with duct grate; do not combine solid fuel and gas or convert a configured appliance. Wood-Fire Control Kit is optional. Pellets are not documented. |

| Monitoring and controls | The supplied local digital console displays air and stone temperatures and works with two included meat probes. It is not a documented phone monitor, remote flame controller, or substitute for a separate point reading on the stone; food probes read food. |
| Optional rotating setup | The standard cooking floor is stationary and the pizzas are manually managed/turned. No automatic rotating base or compatible motorized arrangement is documented for this exact product. |
| Space and measurement note | U.S. exact-page dimensions: outside 32.5 W x 25.7 D x 38.8 H in; interior 23.8 W x 19.6 D x 8.9 H in; mouth 16.5 W x 5.2 H in. Product page lists 136.7 lb oven-only and 150.8 lb packaged. The oven ships assembled; a separate stand/support and fuel are not included in the oven weight. Gozney recommends four people for unboxing/moving. The oven is not portable tabletop equipment. |
| Stone care | Outdoor use only and attended operation. Follow the exact current manual, level/stable support, directional combustible clearances (30 cm side/back and 1 m front), separate two-inch dock intake clearance, wind/rain precautions, fuel-specific installation and gradual cool-down. The manual says not to move hot, not to combine gas and solid fuels, not to use treated/painted or unapproved wood, and not to use the optional wood-fire module without its rack. Wood/charcoal ashes may remain hot after the oven has cooled. |
| Cooking modes and limits | Manufacturer lists a maximum of 950°F and a 30 mm removable cordierite floor. This is a published specification, not an independently measured chamber/stone temperature or recipe outcome. The console displays air and stone readings but does not imply an automatic thermostat. |
